Abstract

According to the scientific method that served as the foundation for its creation, the article suggests two different kinds of methods. The first strategy concentrates on theoretical and methodological elements with the goal of examining the primary facets of territorial planning from an integrated approach at the mountain area level. Applied to the current situation in Craiului Forest, the second strategy is pragmatic and considers the attainment of integrated territorial coherence as well as the reduction of social and economic disparities at the component locality level.

The specific objectives analyzed in the article are consistent with the trajectory of the logic of the scientific approach, as follows: (1) presenting the main elements of the integrated territorial planning process; (2) analyzing the economic and social profile of the mountain area; (3) conducting a SWOT analysis for each of the evaluated areas; (4) identifying the main objectives of the integrated development strategy and the directions of action at the level of the Craiului Forest (CF) mountain microregion.

The article represents the result of research carried out within CE-MONT in 2024, as part of the strategic program CEM 1, entitled “Mountain bioeconomy and renewable resources; Circular economy and social economy as factors for revitalizing disadvantaged mountain communities”. Within the framework of the aforementioned program, the study “Feasibility analysis for a territorial development model of a mountain microregion, as a support for the application of knowledge-based bioeconomy. Application: Pădurea Craiului Bioarea”, coordinated by Ms. PhD economist Daniela Antonescu, was developed.
